Back to university

Thursday, February 26th, 2009. Posted in General | No Comments »

I’ll be heading back to university next week. I had a nice quiet summer. This year will be my final year at university. I’ll begin to hunt for a job, and explore the geographical information system (GIS) industries, networks and career opportunities. I hope it will be easy finding a job regardless of this global financial crisis.

River Torrens

I just had to see this for myself. A motor controlling a weir on the lower reaches of the Torrens River burnt out, opening the gates on Wednesday night (11 February 2009) and sending millions of litres of water flowing to the sea over a two-hour period.

Vision Therapy

Friday, February 6th, 2009. Posted in General | No Comments »

Today I have started vision therapy (also known as visual training). I have just received my pinhole glasses and they do really work!

When I first wore them, I could see and feel my eyes adjusting and focusing on objects. By using the pinhole glasses, I can now watch television, read and see objects without the need to wear my prescription glasses. It helps me see things clearly in far distance, naturally, which is fantastic. I hope I can break my dependence on visual aid glasses.

By the way, I don’t have a severe myopic case. Pinhole glasses are not for everyone. I’ll report back if I have any visual improvement. I’ve also ordered a vision training/improvement kit and will arrive in two or three weeks.
