Website transfer completed

Thursday, July 16th, 2009. Posted in General, Internet | 1 Comment »

I have completed the integration of a new blog system, powered by Wordpress, with this website.  I have also transferred my old posts into the new blog system. Changing the template of the website took only about two hours. However, integrating the website’s template into Wordpress took one full day, and it was a pain doing so (and it was my first time). I almost lost my sanity! A simple way to match the website design with the blog is to use Wordpress as a content management system. I am not comfortable using Wordpress, or a content management system, to control how the website will be displayed on the Internet. I prefer to have 100% control over how my website will be displayed.

The complete Wordpress template is split into many PHP documents. This is convenient for the user to quickly identify and access which templates the user needs to edit. The template documents control how Wordpress will be displayed on the Internet. The problem that I experienced was that I did not know which division tags were left open and needed to close because the complete template document is split into many smaller size documents. This causes confusion and the user will sure lose track of its work. Forgetting to close a division, and not knowing where to close, can lead to headaches. Imagine yourself fixing two components to display correctly on the Web. Once you have fixed the first component, the second component breaks. When you fix the second component, the first component breaks. I spent two hours trying to work out how to fix the two components without either one breaking. In the end, not closing a division was the cause of the problem. A small thing can cause big headaches. There must be some kind of management programme for developers to keep track of their work.

This may be the last time I redesign my website. I have little motivation to develop websites and to spend time online the Internet. I also have little motivation to explore the mainstream world and economy. Such an unusual act (those who know me)  requires some explaination. At a very young age, I started training.  I ceased my training at the age of thirteen. Seven years later, I resumed my training. Training generated the message. The message has now begun ’sinking’ into my mind. The message motivated me to write the eight vows. The message is my ultimate life goal. The eight vows will guide and help me to achieve my ultimate life goal.
